Arabic Sajedahs
16:48,49 – The Bee
Note: A warning to those who would turn a deaf ear to the message. Instructions to
Muhammad (sal) about what manner to explain the message, not to force by
compulsion, just issue the message so it is known and understood through example..
Understanding can come from looking at God's creations, and understanding they are
under control of a vast higher power, a proof of God's great sovernty. Tafseer below.
36. And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah
and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of
them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the
nature of the consequence for the deniers!
(see what happened to those who didn’t follow their messengers)
37. Even if thou (O Muhammad) desirest their right guidance, still Allah assuredly will
not guide him who misleadeth. Such have no helpers.
(once you reach full trespass no guide can reach them)
38. And they swear by Allah their most binding oaths (that) Allah will not raise up him
who dieth. Nay, but it is a promise (binding) upon Him in truth, but most of mankind
know not, (this was a major difference even though the pagans felt that they were
correct and pious, and following their ancestral religion, they were ignorant of the day
of resurrection and the truths of monotheism)
39. That he may explain unto them that wherein they differ, and that those who
disbelieved may know that they were liars.
(this was shown as a proof that as in nature, sorting of good from bad is an inherent
practice, and therefore a strong sign that judgement day will happen, when all things
including humans will be sorted according to a criterion)
40. And Our word unto a thing, when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: Be! and it
is. (the pagans didn’t accept the resurrection, and also Rasoolallaah (sal) related that it
would happen upon every human that ever lived at 1 instant. The Pagans could not
understand or accept that Allaah (azwajal) could resurrect such, and possess Power of
that magnitude)
41. And those who became fugitives for the cause of Allah after they had been
oppressed, We verily shall give them goodly lodging in the world, and surely the reward
of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew;
(this is the migration to Christian Abyssinia where the King questioned them about their
view on Jesus AS, and the related the passages that agree with the Gospel and the
secrets from the Bible.)
42. Such as are steadfast and put their trust in Allah.
43. And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men
whom We inspired--Ask the followers of the Remembrance if ye know
not!
(ask the Jews, Christians, and Sabians (Sheba) if there were not humans that received
messages. They will set you right on that point, and witness that there was monotheistic
criterion that came before)
44. With clear proofs and writings; and We have revealed unto thee the Remembrance
that thou mayst explain to mankind that which hath been revealed for them, and that
haply they may reflect.
(it was called into question that a message could not be a man. A challenge was issued
to ask previous monotheistic beliefs if their prophet was a man. A vessel is needed to
witness Jibra’el as he (as) conveyed the message to mankind. So to convey to men, you
must do as men do, witnessing that he (sal) had been guided, and his example was
consistent with prophets that had come before him)
45. Are they who plan ill deeds then secure that Allah will not cause the earth to
swallow them, or that the doom will not come on them whence they know not?
(this is to explain there is a limit where they pass all boundaries of human behaviour,
and can be lost, even though present circumstance seem to give anonymity)
46. Or that He will not seize them in their going to and fro so that there be no escape
for them? (they are being observed so if the decree of death or destruction comes, they
can not avoid it even if they had evaded evil consequences in the past)
47. Or that He will not seize them with a gradual wasting? Lo! thy Lord is indeed Full of
Pity, Merciful!
(pagans can experience premature aging and health problems and all manner of setbacks
can gradually enter. As their heart remains wicked and they embrace evil and cruelty,
they can gradually waste away. However there is a promise here, that if they turn away
from the old ways, then God can restore them, and blessing (tawba) can return through
mercy)
48. aw lam yaraw ilaa maa Khalaqa Allaahu min shay’in yatafayya’u zhilaaluhu
‘an al- yameen wa ash-shamaa’ili sujjadan lillaahi wa huwa dakhiroon
Are (you) not seeing upon what created Allaah with all things inclining/tracking
shadows upon the right and the left prostrating/submitting to Allaah
and they (are) lowly/humble/submissive
Have they not observed all thing that Allah hath created, how their shadows incline to
the right and to the left, making prostration unto Allah, and they are lowly? (Pickthall)
Do they not look at Allah's creation (even) among (inanimate) things how their (very)
shadows turn round from the right and the left prostrating themselves to Allah and that
in the humblest
manner? (Ali)
49. wa illahi yasjudu maa fiy as-samaawaati
wa maa fiy al-ard min da’aabbatin
wa al malaa’itatu wa huwa laa yastakbiroon - sajadah
And (to) Allaah prostrate/submit from in the Heavens and the earth with slow
advance/ascend/descend. And the angels , and they (are) not pridful/unmindful/arrogant.
And Have they not observed all things that Allah hath created, how their shadows incline
to the right and to the left, making prostration unto Allah, and they are lowly? (Pickthall)
Do they not look at Allah's creation (even) among (inanimate) things how their (very)
shadows turn round from the right and the left prostrating themselves to Allah and that
in the humblest manner? (Ali)
(God has the Power to motivate animate and inanimate things. Seen and unseen, like
angels prostrate/submit. How can you fathom a Power like this or compare to man
made god or satanic energy, things that do not truly create, but are themselves created,
therefore have no power to do anything)
24. When they are asked: "What is it, that your Rabb has revealed?" They say: "Fictitious
stories of the ancients!"
35. The mushrikin say: "If Allah wanted, neither we nor our forefathers would have
worshipped any one else but Him, nor made anything unlawful without His will."
(Such excuses were put forward also by those who went before them. Yet Rasools have
no more responsibility than to convey the Message clearly.)
36. No doubt We raised in every nation a Rasool, saying: "Serve Allah and keep away
from Taghut (Satanic forces)." After that, Allah guided some of them while deviation
proved true against the others. So travel through the earth and see what was the end of
those who denied Our Message. (Malik)
28. Those whom the angels cause to die while they were still engaged in doing injustice
to their own souls. At the time of death they offer submission, saying: "We were not
doing anything wrong." The angels will reply: "O Yea! How dare you deny! Certainly
Allah is aware of what
you were doing.
17. Is then, He, Who has created all this, like one who cannot create? Why don't you
understand?
18. If you want to count the favors (true creations) of Allah, you will never be able to
number them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Mawdudi Taseer Comments:
16:48,49
Apart from earthly being, even heavenly beings that have been mistakenly conceived (as
God) since time immemorial as god, goddesses, and kith and kin of God, are in fact in
bondage to God. None has any share in His Divinity at all. Hadith also say that there are
lives on other worlds as well.
Addendum from the Bee:
24. When they are asked: "What is it, that your Rabb has revealed?" They say: "Fictitious
stories of the ancients!"
(the pagans believed that in his SAL travels by caravan, he picked up foreign and
fictitious stories and unbelief in the gods of the pagan fathers, which they were thinking
that they were devoted to in a sincere devotion, which was satanic, ignorant)
35. The mushrikin say: "If Allah wanted, neither we nor our forefathers would have
worshipped any one else but Him, nor made anything unlawful without His will." Such
excuses were put forward also by those who went before them. Yet Rasools have no
more responsibility than to convey the Message clearly. (malik)
(God created all things both animate and inanimate, and the conditions that govern them.
Of this man was created with the potential to worship/love the One God. The argument
that God would have made them worship without their faith or effort is futile. They feel
no responsibility to understand or practice the message, and actually feel insulted
because they were devoted to paganism)
36. No doubt We raised in every nation a Rasool, saying: "Serve Allah and keep away
from Taghut (Satanic forces)." After that, Allah guided some of them while deviation
proved true against the others. So travel through the earth and see what was the end of
those who denied Our
Message. (Malik)
(mankind has been warned in each generation and within that body of warning is a
consistency of not outward and more importantly not inwardly, practicing satanic
personality, as the sin binds to form trespass and eventually rock hard qualities of
satanic bondage)
28. Those whom the angels cause to die while they were still engaged in doing injustice
to their own souls. At the time of death they offer submission, saying: "We were not
doing anything wrong." The angels will reply: "O Yea! How dare you deny! Certainly
Allah is aware of what
you were doing.
(In the hadith the word qabr [grave] is used as a metaphor for barzakh, for the state in
which souls remain from their last moment on earth until their resurrection in the
hereafter. Rejecters believe that they will just be in a void with no perception. It is clear
that upon entering qabr angels will communicate and question and unbelievers will not
find a void but a world which is totally at odds to what they expect. Unlike pagans who
believed the soul doesn’t continue, only the body is quiet and the soul is engaged in it. It
is a state befitting the state they were in at the time of death. Barzakhi life has many
forms, and some can be very harsh. One example are the pharaohs who are described as
having tombs of fire all around, because of their magic and sexuality and the belief that
they were gods on the earth)
17. Is then, He, Who has created all this, like one who cannot create? Why don't you
understand?
18. If you want to count the favors (true creations) of Allah, you will never be able to
number them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful,
