53:62 an-Najm – the Star – Sirius
Note: Instructions about not worshipping the star Sirius, and that it's brightness and
seeming eternal nature are just signs of God's eternal power. Sirius was worshipped as
the "dog star" in ancient cultures, like Egypt. Stars and constellations figure into
astrology, and that is one of the things controlled by revelation. The movement of the
sun, moon, and constellations were also used to tell time before technology. Desert
cultures also used the stars as compasses for navigation purposes. So all this
seemingly eternal and predictable phenomena seemed like gods to the pagans.
49.
that He is even the Rabb of the Sirius (dog star whom the pagans used to worship),
(sirius is the brightest star and has a blue shine that causes awe & fear in those that
worship the heavens)(also the phrase rabb ash-sha’ira was used to be believed as the
anchor of the constellations)
50.
and that it is He Who destroyed the people of `Ad,
51.
then the people of Thamud, sparing no one,
52.
and before them the people of Nuh (Noah), who were the most unjust and rebellious.
53.
And also destroyed the Mu'tafikah.
(Overthrown Cities of Sodom and Gomorrah),
54.
and before them the people of Nuh (Noah), who were the most unjust and rebellious.
55.
Then which of your Rabb's blessings would you doubt?
(inferring that it is folly to worship anything else, no matter how magnificent they
seem, as real Power and Permissions come from God)
56.
This Warner (Muhammad) is just like the earlier warners.
(to those who say mere men can’t speak the words of God, God reveals the fact that
God has sent thousands of warmers from within there own, using their own language
and warning from satanic belief)
57.
the ever approaching (the Day of Judgement) is drawing near;
58.
none but Allah can disclose it.
(many claim they know the time, and indeed it may seem imminent but that is only
known by God)
59.
Do you then wonder at this revelation,
(simple muse over this message is not enough, you must take it to your heart by
intention and effort)
60.
and laugh instead of weeping?
(you must not mock and joke but if you understand it you will actually weep at your
degraded of state)
61.
Rather you are wasting your time,
(all the things you are doing that are wrong will multiply in kind until they overwhelm
you)
62.
Fa usjudu lillaahi wa a’budu
Then prostrate/submit to God and serve/love (Him alone)
prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship Him while you can!
(submission in true Iman is the only course that will have effect & relief, and bare life
to you eternally)
