And We set a just balance for the Day of Resurrection
so that no soul is wronged in aught. Though it be of
the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We bring it.

Red Heifer - A Spot Ruins the Color
786
as-salaam 'alaykum.
Here is the Sufi story about the heart, as it relates to the example of the spots on cows.
Red Heifer with a Spot
If you have a black cow, a small white spot will not be noticed. However if you have a
red cow, even a tiny white or black spot will ruin the value of that breeding stock. Just
a small patch will cause the calculation of the value of the heifer to change.
The first point is that the patches of color represent dark spots in the pure color of a
good heart. These are the businesses that feed off of the impure desires, or dark spots
in the heart. It is said that almost all of the businesses would fail if God brought Purity
to the hearts of men.
Let us just consider substance abuse. How many people would be seeking intoxicating
substances if Purity of heart came? All the drug dealers and whiskey brewers would
surely become defunct. So if that dark spot was removed, then the situation would be
all different. The value of that "cow" would increase exponentially. There are so many
things that would cease to operate if the hearts of men (baqira) would change.
As the scale (mizan) measures the heart, the circumstances form around that balance,
that calculation. Moment by moment it will perform this at least 50 to 52 times a day,
the sages say. When your heart is dark, prayers will seem to have little impact.
If we look at this, our prayers are like the dark cow with a little white spot. That spot
doesn't change the value much. But if you have a pure red heifer, even a tiny light color
will spoil the value. You may need to sort a billion heifers to find one that is exactly
right.
Consider the Grandshaykh(rd). If his eye strays to look into a womans eyes with
longing (and I'm not saying that it does), God will adjust that balance very quickly, and
he will know immediately that his heart has made a wrong move. From that event,
perhaps he would follow sunnah, and make tawba, and pray astaghfar.
Hadith:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard Allah's Apostle saying." By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to
Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."

Al-Anbiya (The Prophets)
And We set a just balance for the Day of Resurrection so that no soul is wronged in
aught. Though it be of the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We bring it. (47)
And We suffice for reckoners. And We verily gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion
(furqaan)(proof of right and wrong) and a light (diyaa'an) and a Reminder (dhikraan)
for those who keep from evil-- (48)
Those who fear (yakhshawn) their Lord in secret (ghayb) and who dread the Hour (of
doom). (49)
This is a blessed Reminder (dhikran mubaarakun) that We have revealed:
Will ye then reject it? (50)
