Surat al-Fatiha The Opening - The Oft Repeated Verses
bismillaahi ir-rahman ir-raheem (1)
in the name of God the Merciful the Compassionate
(the bisman is included as verse 1 in this sura only)
al-hamdu lillaa hi rabb il-^aalameen (2)
the praise (is) in God, He (is) Sustaining Lord (of) the totality of worlds
ar-rahman ir-raheem (3)
the Gracious the Most Merciful
(empowering by grace and providing sustenance for that)
maaliki yaum id-deen (4)
Universal Sovereign )(king)(of the) day (of) the judgement
iyyaa ka na ^abudu wa iyyaa ka na sta^een (5)
Through you we emulate (serve)(worship) and through you we seek aid
ihdi naa as-siraat al-mustaqeem (6)
guide us (to) the path (way)(that is) the straight one
(so we may correct ourselves)
siraat al-ladheena an^amta ^alay him
the path (way)(of) the ones (with) blissful grace upon them,
ghair il-maghduubi ^alay him wa laa daalleen (7)
without the (selfish) anger upon them and not straying
(not being enamored with wrong)
'ameen
