I am so self-sufficient (qayyum) that I am in no need
of having an associate (mushrik). Thus he who does
an action for someone else's sake as Mine will have
that action renounced by Me to him whom he
associated with Me.
Hadith Qudsi #5
In your own name
As-salaam 'alaykum:
This is a story about a real man who rests in peace, if God wills, in my locality.. I will not
mention his name, for protection. You may see the attribute of al-Qayyoom
(self-subsistent) in manifestation in this story.
Note: It is not the man M.R.B. Muhaiyaddeen.
In your own name
Now when he died, everyone was praising him and grieving, and the funeral went on like
that for several days. As soon as the last person left 7 steps, the angels began to ask: “We
have been waiting, now we are going to have to make this a little too fast for you.
Because you were such a man of the world, this is going to be hard.” And the man was
crying under the pressure of the angelic forces that were finalizing his record.
So after a time, the angels left and the man was waiting. He is asking God: "Can I not go
to paradise now, as promised in Your book. As I have done all these righteous things,
I want to leave now."
So the answer comes: “Now first, I didn't say that. Men wrote that. They don't
understand the subtlety and allegory of the examples, so this gets distorted. In any
case I will leave you with these 4 or 5 companions to keep you company while you
wait.”
The man is looking. Seated between him and God (the Qibla) are these angelic people. He
asks: “Why are you present, and when are you going to leave? Let me see God at
least.”
They answer: “You asked us here, and the time period that God has set will determine
when we go, as God is the most accurate of Assessors. We stay until the time is
determined, or God has Mercy upon you, whichever time is first.”
So the man is looking. He is wondering. Why are these between me and God? Do I
deserve this? I need an explanation here. This isn't like what I read in the books, was to
happen.
One angel says: “I represent your masjeeds you built in your own name. I have to
block you from God until the last worshipper in the last masjeed finishes
worshipping. This will take some time, so don't get upset. You sent these good works
before you in your name, so here I sit with you until that time.”
Next angel says: “I represent your charities. As long as your beneficence that you sent
in your name benefits people, I remain with you.”
Next angel says: “I represent your children that you have, that are caring your name
forth. As long as they carry that name instead of God's, I will be here with you to see
that you receive the rewards that go forth in your name, by your children and wives.”
Next angel say: “I represent your books that you wrote to glorify your intellect and
your scientific analysis of God. As long as people adhere to your view and your
teaching, I will remain.”
Next angel says: “I represent the awrad that you placed in peoples hand and they
look at you as lord instead of God. As long as people put rabita to you instead of God
I will stay. You taught that you were a lord (arabbi) and that you could stand between
God and them. As long as there are people who take refuge in you instead of God, I
will be here.”
Next angel says: “I represent your prayers that you offered without sincerity, and as
long as people follow what you taught them about prayers falsely, I will be here.”
So like that the angels came and delivered the "reward", and there were never less than 4
until one day, there were 3. The man seen some Light getting past and his tears were less.
He asked: “Why are there only 3 now?”
The last angels said: “God has in His Mercy decreed that we stop now, and as soon as
we finish you will be freed from this, and then some other way could come. But we
have one last question for you.”
The Shaykh said: “Please tell me, I understand now. Please ask.”
The angel asks: “What do you say of your good works and prayers now?”
The man answers:
There is no God but Allaah.
There are no Lords but the LORD.
There is no prayer but God's Prayer.
There is no masjeed except the one He builds.
There is no charity except as He intends.
There are no words that can fully glorify and praise God.
There is no book except the book He authored, and keeps.
There is no destiny but what is written by His Pen on our hearts.
There is no paradise except as is His Marawdiyya to bestow.
So upon hearing the reply, a Sound comes from Above. Like a Triumph It Sounds.
The man sees the Light, and for the first time he drinks in the Glory of God.
After a long while in that Glory, a voice comes and announces:
“Look and see what your victory is - Fatah! Open!”
In the Light a door swings open and a sweet fragrance comes, and a light green light
shows on the mimbar steps. The same angels that were blocking him before now have
beautiful eyes and light on their faces and their clothes are like robes with sheer light
sparkle, cherubim. The cherubim are saying:
“Come with us, now your God, your LORD has accepted you. He has assessed your
place after your purification. Enter and be glad therein. Peaceful submission will
forever be upon your being.”
So the man enters this place and is glad therein, exactly as his Lord had decreed.
