6 Kinds of Living Forces
The 6 Inner Fards
Inner Duties - Fards
Hidden Inner Surrender - 'Ilm al-Batin
1. Allaah: You understand the quickening of your life in the presence of God. You
understand your soul and the way God works His Ways on you. You perceive that
difficulties come when your intentions stray. God is known as the Master Creator and
Destroyer, and that is easy for Him to do that on our behalf.
Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa billaah.
2. Angels: You accept on faith at least, that there are also elemental witnesses that
can record your deeds and intentions. You also accept that inspiration from God can
come by these Angels. In God’s creation there are governing entities that can perform
any task that God wants to happen, where there is a witness shown. Miracles that were
shown by Prophets fall into this area. These are called mubiyn, and are the Proofs
(furqan & burhan & bayyan) by Angels for us to see. The Qur’an is the Bayyan of Islam.
3. Books: We accept that Books were sent by God to inform and reform us. They
are our tutors when we don’t know what to do, or how to act. There are Clear Points
(mubiyn) that show out the plan of creation and the significant insights on how to cope
with life. The major book is the Qur’an, but there are other books in monotheism that
speak of wisdom knowledge (‘ilm) as well. Most Sufies would agree that there is also a
hidden canon, the lahuw al-mahfuth, Preserved Tablets, which contain records and
secrets of Reality.
4. Messengers: There are 2 kinds that really meld into one as you receive clarity.
External Messengers brought a code, or sunnah to practice along with the Book. That
Witness is a key to being able to know what to do by heart. Also there is an inner
witness that is called the Conscience (dhikr). Most authorities accept that this Witness
inside is none other than Rasoolallaah(sal).
You have what is said openly and what is felt inwardly, in the heart. These different
Messengers you feel, and their voices, are of the Divine Assembly (arba’iyn). There is
an external authority, and also an internal one as well. When Shaykh(rd) calls on Medat,
or Sultan al-Awliyya, this is being said to people who are in the grave life. To be present
without physical form is one of the attributes of this secret kind of inner messenger
(sal). Shaykh is not calling a ghost or genie or cult form, but a spiritual power that has a
strong connection to true Power (qadir) and Reality (haqq).
5. Day of Judgement: Yawm Al-Qiyama, this is the Day of Standing, or Assembly.
This belief confirms that there is no shortcut or intercessor or religious practice that
can control God’s Authority in the return of His creations to Him. He alone has the
Knowing that can comprehend. The Angels and even our body will witness what we have
done, and the reasons why. Our intention will be examined. All the internal motivations
will be shown, and that will be known. The resulting nature of prayer (salaw) will be
shown.
As we look, there is also an inner judgement that is working. This Judge is looking at
out heart intention (‘ibad), and is constantly balancing things according to what is seen.
This is not what we see, but what is seen in Reality. In one very important sense, we are
being handed our fate in the right or left hand in every moment. When we are good, then
we believe. When we are bad, then for that time we hold that evil intention, we are
unprotected. Allaah Aliyyon will certainly notice this condition (haal), and grace us
accordingly. It is one matter to know and accept the principle of the Day of Judgment,
and quite another to carry it on an inner level.
6. Destiny: Nisab, this is the Divine Knowledge that God knows and we are
discovering. It is a combination of factors that are determined as we enter this world,
and will be reckoned in the next. The Pen (Qalaam) and the Tablet (Lahuw al-Mahfuth)
record what is decided before we enter this world, and that will be our work and our
duty. For reasons that we can never know, God Understands, and are indicated here. This
is the reason that we need Trust and Faith in God. He is the Trustee (Wakeel). In His
Hands are the weights that are placed on the scale, (mizan). In His Hands are the Saluw
and the falah, Prayer and Success. This is Power (Qadir).
Note: In the sirat ar-Rasoolallaah(sal), there are many secrets. It is understood that the
society of clans had no legal cannon until the migration (hijrah). As Islam was accepted,
there came the outer duties. That was needed to establish order in a pagan (taghut)
saturated belief system. The inner duties were always there, but it seems to be encoded
in God’s Plan that there is a time when explanations are needed. Islam believes that the
area of Mecca was always a Qibla. Adam(as) was there, Abraham(as) and Ishmael(as)
was there, and it is said that 51 other Prophets are buried in the area called the Hatiym.
When you look at a picture of the Kaba’, it is the side where the half circular wall is
located on side two, as you circumambulate (tawwaf).
