23 – mazmoor  ar-rabb  raa^eyya
23rd Psalm of the Lord, a Shepard.

mazmoorul  li daaawood
a Psalm by David

bismillaah   ir-rahman    ir-raheem;
by the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate;

ar-rabbu  raaa^eeyya;  fa laa yu^wizuneey  shay^un. (1)
the Lord (is) my shepard/gaurd; then no destitution (have) I (for) things.

fee  maraa^in  khudurin  yurayahunaa;
in pastures green (He) pledges (dowery)(for) me (as my temporary security);

wa miyaahaan  haadi’tan  yuuriduniy; (2)
and (to cool/still) waters (He) guides (me) relieving/filling me;

[shuub - restore]              [naahaah - guide]            [tsadik – righteous/truthful]
yun^ishu  naf*siy;  yahadeeneey  subuli  il-birr;
restores my soul/mind;  guiding me (to) paths/ways (of) the righeousness;

min  ‘aj*li  ‘asmihi. (3)
from a quickening/receiving (because of) His Name.

law  siratu  fee waadiy  zhillan al-maut.
(even) If (I have) an experience in an oasis, shadowy (of) death.

Laa  akhaafu  sharraan; Li ‘annaka  anta  ma^iy;
Not (am) I fearing (of) evil;  By with You, You (are) upon me;

[sheebet – staff/rod]
^asaaka  wa  ^ukkaazuka  humaa  yu^azzan  yaaninee. (4)
Your crook staff (beating/leading) and Your crutch staff (cane)(are) comforting for me.

Yuhayya’u  quddaamiy  maa’datan tujaaha  khusoomiy;
You prepare (and) send (to) me a table (when) come present my enemies;

[daasheen - annoint]     [shemeh - oil]
Wa  masahta  bi  it-taybi  ra’asiy; Wa  ka’asiy  rawayyatun; (5)
And  annoint by the sweet perfume oil, my head; And my vessel (cup) overflows;

[tov - good]             [chesed – love/mercy]
Al-khayru  wa  ar-rahmatu  yat*ba^a aniniy kulla  ‘ayyami  hayaatiy;
The goodness and the loving mercy follow, comforting me, all (the) days (of) my life;

                                                                               [yoom – many days]
Wa  as*kanu  fee  bayt  ir-rabbi  ‘ilaa  madaay  al-‘ayyaami.  (6)
And I live in (the) house (of) the Lord upon (me) extended/granted (all of) my days.
