Ayat al-Qursi
Ayat al-Qursi   2:255-57

b'ismillaah                    ir-rahmaan         ir-raheem
in the name of God the most merciful     the compassionate.
allaa hu  laa ilaaa ha  illaa hoo,                         al-hayyu         ul-qayyum,
Allahu - no god except Him (huu or resonance), the enlivening the self sufficient
[He is this resonance that is alone and unique in being able to enliven to grace]
laa  ta^khudhuhu  sinatuw              wa  laa  naum.
no  overtaking  (by) slumber (torpor) and not sleeping (always awake and aware)
lahu  maa                         fi  is-saamaawaati  wa  al-ard.
by Him (is) whatever (is) in the heavens          and the earth
man dha  alladhee  yashfa^u                   ^inda huu  illa     bi  idhnih.
then when (are) any interceding (by what) He posses  except by His permission
[He is the only intercessor, and He can share that if He wants to]
ya^lamu     maa      bayna      aydee heem           wa  maa  khalfa hum,
(He) knows what (is) destined before they (know) and what (was) behind (history)
[He knows what was supposed to be done, compared to what was actually done]
wa   laa             yuhiytuuna                         bi shaa^i                 min  ^ilmi hee    
and nothing (is) encompassed (understood) in anything (except) from His divine see
[all knowledge and experience has its origination in His knowledge and experience]
illa      bi  maa      shaa^a.
except in   what He wills
[He is the absolute sovereign who decides]
wasi^a                              kursiyyu hu                             us-samaawaati  wa  al-ard.
encompassed (within, by) His throne and dominion (are) the heavens         and the earth
[He alone controls how grace comes to the heavens and the earth]
wa              laa           ya^uudu hu              hifzhu humaa,
and (He is) not (ever) tired or bored (with)  preserving and sustaining them
wa   huwa  al-^aliyyu                 ul-^azheem.   (255)
and  He (is) the absolute highest, the tremendous (in effacacy)


laa   ikraaha      fi    id-deen.
no    compulsion in   the  religion
(karaha is hate, ikraha is doing something you dislike, usually by force)
qattabayya                  ir-rushdu     min     al-ghayy.
distict (separated)(are) the errorless  from   the corrupt (ways)
fa may yakfur  bi  it-taaquuti  wa yu^mim  bi  illaahi -
then if (you) disbelieve in the idolatries and believe and  in God
fa qad istamas ka  bi il-^urwati      al-wuthqa        la anfisaama  laha.
and then he obtains  in that grip         the solid (with) no breaking   in that
wa  allaahu   samii^un         a^leem.  (256)
and God is     all-hearing and all-knowing


allaahu  waliy                         ulladheena  aamanuu.
God (is)  friend and protector of those (who) believe
yukhriju hum  min  azh-zhulumaati        ila  an-noor.
(He) exits them from the gloom (darkness) into the light
wa  alladhi                kafaruuu          awliyaa^u hum          at-taaghuutu -
and (for) those (that) disbelieve their friends and protectors (are) the idols
(false gods and ideas)
yukhrijuuna hum  min  an-noori  ila  azh-zhulimaat.
(He) exits them from the light into the gloom of darkness (false practices and
degradation)
uulaaa^ika  ashaab               un-naari       hum        fiyhaa  khalidoon.  (257)
those are       companions (of) the fire (and) they (are) in her   forever.
