  • Bible: 1 Thes. 1:4,5 - For we know brothers, loved by God, that He has chosen
you not because our Gospel came to you not by simple words, but also with
Power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep convictions.
  • What is the Power that is being spoken of in the passage ?

Peace be upon you:

One explanation of the text is that Power takes the form of the Holy Spirit and deep
convictions *.

Also most would accept that the messenger makes up the 3rd of what is called the Trinity.

  • Father - the resonance of God in the heart, the conscience made as God acts on the
    heart.
  • Son - the bodily incarnation of the Kingdom's ruling Power, or Prophetic office, a
    voice.
  • Holy Ghost - the inspirational force, or what is called in Greek charismata, or
    grace.

In this sense the Gospel is explaining the Kingdom of God. There is a definite difference
between Power and those spiritual entities that employ that Power on behalf of God. It is
not so much a difference of the quality of sovereignty, but the actual form. In one case it
is the contrition of deep conviction, and in the other it is a spiritual manifestation. This is
called shadow form, or in other translations, it called the Holy Ghost.

I would not suggest that this in any way conflicts with Islamic or Judaic understanding.
There is a Power, and that is identified by 3 offices, and is called the Kingdom of God.
There is a source of Power, and then there are offices that express that so we can
understand.

If we make gods of the offices, then that would be unfortunate. Without the Power, there
would be no reason for the offices. It is important to understand that Power comes to the
office, and that in turn is transmitted as healing and teaching, as it is shown clearly in the
Bible.

As a flashlight has a bulb and circuits, and a battery, and produces a light when some one
wants it; the Power is unseen. The implements are needed to make visible the Power.

So to monotheism, there is no difference of understanding if the verse is read correctly.
