There are teaching passed down through the Tariqat, but put into lessons by Grandshaykh
Daghestani (quddas as-sirr al-'azeez)(radiw allaahu `anh) and passed on through Grandshaykh
Nazim (quddas as-sirr al-'azeez)(radiw allaahu `anh) and then passed on through our dedicated
deputies.
As there are secrets in our hearts that are not always known even to ourselves, we attach to the
success of Rasoolallaah (sal), for he is the best example with the best knowledge and prayer and
success. We are hoping to gain a share in that.
By that alliance, the heavenly powers come to perfect, finish and correct intentions we have and
actions we make according to Rasoolallaah' s (sal) purity and not our own. We trust not our own
motivations, which is most likely far short of being correct.
There are people who will call this polytheism (mushrik). But we are not praying to him (sal) as God,
rather we are asking him (sal) to ask for us in a better way, or guide and correct our intentions and
aspirations, and we are hoping to reap the benefits that, because of his (sal) timeless and
undiminishing grace (baraka). We ask as Allaahu ta'alaa carries out His (`azz wa jall) purposes
through His Chosen (Mustafa) and Unique (waheed) instrument that is the Emperor (Bad'u Sha')
which is administering all of everything in His (`azz wa jall) Name, In some meaningful way, we can
share, in sha' allaah.

Nawaitu Al-arba'een
The 40, a number used to indicate preparation and initiation into readiness. Many prophets were
required 40 days of preparation, but there are also other meanings for the abjad 40. One of them is
the cycle (ruka'il) of the Divine assembly members being always 40 in number, and taking 40 days to
finish one tawwaf of the kaba' ma'arifan. It is enough to say the the principle member of that is Medat
(sal), and he (sal) knows best how that works, and that is why we invoke it.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Muddaththir.
27. Covered One. (Qur'an 74)(clothed one)(hidden/ covered in garments of prophethood)
(interrution between 1st & 2nd revealation weighed heavy and caused criticism on Rasoolallaah. 2nd
revealation came heavy and Rasoolallaah hid from everyone. However difficult the warning of the

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Saahib ul-Izaari.

28. Wrapped Up/Clothed for Prayer. (Qur'an 73)(ever clothed and prepared for prayer)(after the
1st revealation, Rasoolallaah trembled and was apprehensive of conveying the ayats. He clothed for
prayer at night to gain Allah's strength to proceed)( saying to his wife: "cloth me, cover me." As he
needed prayer-sajada) (Rasoolallaah maintained a ready state, in sajada)(we follow that example,
that is to be vigilant body and soul, ever supple to Allaah's inspiration)
Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna `urwatun wuthqaa.
89. Trustworthy Handhold/Grip.
Note: comments on the sajedah revelations are from Maududi Tafseer.

you will not be lost without hope.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Taa Haa.
10. Greeting/Reaffirmation. (surat #20 Taa Haa)(a greeting-to sooth Rasoolallaah (sal) during the
times of trouble in the later days in Makkah. Oh Man, I address you once again, don't worry.)

about that, but then came "Taa Haa" to return his (sal) confidence.

Nawaitu Al-khalwat
Seclusion in both physical and spiritual sense. You feel detached from people and circumstances and
you have a felling of being `alone' even if you are with people. A Shaykh will sit alone in khalwa after
suhbet, and also the Sultans would expect quiet while they made baseera on people and situations, to
see if any trouble would come up they would have to adjust. It is a time of resting with another

Nawaitu Al-I'tikaaf
The process of physical seclusion that is used to clear away obstacles and problems through fasting
from things other than food, water, and sex.
Nawaitu al-sawm
The practice of fasting is to include not only the obligatory actions, but also there is a kind of fast
implied for the aspirations of the heart. If you want something, and you know that it will cause
complexity and strife, then a person with this level of fasting will choose to restrain himself. The
Ashaba (rd) where said to restrain from all bad things and also 9 of 10 of the good things, so to
preserve their inner khalwat, or striving towards God.

the continuous string of small prayers and deeds that seem insignificant, but add up after a long time.
You keep the angels busy writing something good in your book, even is it is just a nuqaat.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Mudhakkir.
198. Reminder/Prompter. – (inner cause of recollection to pray)(sublime cause)

149. Taught the Faith. – ( `ilm, knowing, telling about honest trusting faith)

Nawaitu al-qar'at
This is the recitation of Qur'an. We can surely improve our Qur'an skills, but this is also that we are
constantly proclaiming to the world by our example, what we believe. What is in the heart will
eventually work it's way to the surface. This is also why it not good to befriend bad mannered people
or unbelievers. That dirtiness of the whisperings of shaytan ar-rajeem will penetrate into our
awareness, and perhaps into the heart as well. Then we experience the accidents from that bad
association with angry and straying people.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Siraatullaahi.
90. Path/Way to Allaah.
Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Barrun.
116. Righteous/Pious.

Nawaitu ar-rawda
The state of ridwan is the place of repose and composure that a believer can attain. This is related to
the taa'im nafs, the muta'iman. This is a place of silence and happiness. Allaahu maqsudi wa ridawhu
matlubi. God is out goal and His happiness (silence confers consent) is what we are learning about.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Musahhib il-Hasanaati.

Nawaitu al-'affiya
The `affiya is the state of well being, strength, and health. It means both physical and spiritual, and in
a word it means successful (falah). `Affiya also means integrated into, or an important part of. A
saheeh muslim would be one who is a part of the ummah and is participating as Allaah allows. In that
sense of `affiya, that saheeh, you are not being strangled by doubts and unhappiness and depression.
You not only have the strength, but you are willing to engage your faith to some useful end. This is the
freedom that the sunnah ar-Rasoolallaah (sal) brings when it is understood and practiced with utmost
care and intention.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Rasool ur-Rahmaan.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Muqtafin.
21. Select. (qatafa-select-harvest- pulled out)(first fruit ready to harvest)(best of the batch)

Nawaitu as-salaat
The salaw is the prayer. There is no way to ever emulate the prayer of Rasoolallaah (sal) fully. There
is a secret in that because all the power given to creation comes from this one connecting Power. The
ability to make the dhiker of Awwal is only known to Rasoolallaah (sal), but in this alliance with him
(sal), we can get some understanding of what needs to be done and why. It is God that created, so it
is only God that can destroy. If you are to be successful, then you must understand that He (`azz wa
jall) must create that in you, and if you are to get rid of bad habits and sinful qualities of heart, then it
must Allaahu taa'allaah that must be destroyer for that. Yuhyee wa yumeet - jalla jalaalhu.
Rasoolallaah (sal) would be the one that is chosen to understand this the best, so that is our guide for
that understanding and result.

Allaahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alaa man ismuhu Sayyiduna Muhammad
